Canon Ixus 80 IS Review

Canon had introduced earlier this year, the new PowerShot cameras, the thin, compact cameras and send the non-through features, but with style to attract attention. In August, I have the Ixus 85 test may, today's little sister's Ixus 80 IS in the test. Price for taking the Ixus 80, Ixus 85 and Ixus 90 is not so much. Currently, these models are highly falling in price, because in the meantime a new generation and a new processor ( Digic 4 ) are at the door. I have the Ixus 85 and 80 of the 90 preferred for a reason, which I later want to go again in cyber bloc. But once we come to the important facts of the Ixus 80...

  1. Resolution: 8 Megapixels
  2. Sensor: 1/2.5 "
  3. Optical / Digital Zoom: 3/4fach
  4. Focal Length: 38 to 114 mm
  5. Optical Viewfinder: Yes
  6. Screen size 2.5 inches

The Ixus 80 comes in different colors so (silver, chocolate, caramel, pink) and proves once again that the Ixus is not just a camera, but now also a fashion item, is virtually the Apple iPod among digital cameras. The aluminum body gives the camera a certain feeling of luxury and quality, which could keep the innocent contemporaries housing made of aluminum to plastic. With 3x optical zoom (38 - 114 mm), optical image stabilization (Image Stabilization), Face Detection and 8 megapixels, the camera is just one of many services, so a typical Ixus, which is still technically only mediocrity, but for design and Style together with a certain functionality. The processing of the images does the Canon DIGIC III processor, which generated JPEGS are between 2 to 5 MB and it can be absorbed only 1.3 frames per second. Unusually, the Ixus still camera design as an optical viewfinder above the 2.5 inch display with a resolution of 230,000 pixels.

The user can select as usual with Canon, if he wants to make the pictures in automatic mode (and thus makes the camera choose to find the optimal combination of ISO, white balance and other parameters) or hands-on work themselves. The ISO speed is selectable from 80 to 1600, where the images are in the higher ISO setting already very noisy, the practical value here is noticeably restricted.

Furthermore, the user can select him also various scene preset settings such as portrait, night portrait, sports, sunrise, beach, children, animals and aquarium. Here, then, the camera automatically optimizes the picture to achieve optimal results. The built-in flash has a range of about 3 m and, in addition to the almost mandatory reduction of the red-eye and the ability to recognize faces, so as to control the intensity of the flash can effectively reduce over-exposure.
